MREL Group to Supply ProAnalyst with BlastCam Systems

April 15, 2010

MREL Group of Companies Ltd. (Ontario, Canada) and Xcitex Inc (Cambridge, MA) have reached an agreement to package a copy of ProAnalyst TrackOne Edition software with every BlastCam High-Speed Camera sold. MREL is a world leader in the industries of mining, blasting and explosives and the addition of ProAnalyst provides unparalleled and proven measurement capacity to the users of MREL's high-speed cameras. Customers will have a clear upgrade path to more advanced versions of ProAnalyst software.

Bill Bauer, Vice President of MREL, stated, “Before selecting ProAnalyst and Xcitex as our partners, we evaluated many motion analysis software technologies from around the world. ProAnalyst® Software is the world's premier software package for automatically measuring moving objects with video. MREL is excited to be able to offer this proven performer to the mining, blasting and explosives industries. Our tech-savvy industry will take advantage of the offering of the free software trial to take it for a spin. Starting at a terrific price point, it is an exciting product that can be used to extract quantitative information for any digital video.”

Typical applications for ProAnalyst in the blasting and mining communities include determination of blasthole firing times and the onset time, velocity and trajectory of the "face" and the "top" of the blasted rock mass. All major blast design parameters can be assessed and modified by blasting engineers to optimize the blasting operation and reduce overall mining costs.

Peter Carellas, President of Xcitex, stated, "MREL is an industry leader in its field with a proven track record for technical innovation. We demonstrated the applicability and power of ProAnalyst to the MREL staff and the value of a partnership was immediately apparent. The blasting and mining industries are in constant need of new technologies to increase efficiency and reduce costs, and we believe that ProAnalyst provides valuable non-contact remote diagnostic tools to all users. The partnership with MREL gives us an established presence in this growth market."

MiDAS Referenced in Article: Revival of the Jumping Disc

March 26, 2010

Xcitex and MiDAS software were referenced in the article: Revival of the Jumping Disc by physicists and Professors C. Ucke and H-J Schlichting as a part of a study done at the Institute of Didactics of Physics, Münster University in Münster, Germany.

Ucke’s and Schlichting’s study centers around the toy version of snap discs, “Jumping Discs.” This study of “snap discs made of bimetal” tests the technical applications of these discs in concerns towards their most practical application: thermostats. Ucke and Schlichting used Xcitex MiDAS software and high-speed video cameras to investigate the physical conditions of these discs including speed of these discs when “snapped,” their acceleration and the upper and lower snap temperatures. The use of high-speed video gives even deeper insight into these jumps than ever before.
