Peter T. Carellas
Peter founded Xcitex in 1999 with the goal of developing technology to enable video cameras to be used as measurement tools. Now in its fifteenth year, Xcitex has an excellent reputation within the high-speed community.
Due to his extensive experience in optical system design, lens design, and electro-optical system design, Peter has been selected to present the State of the High-Speed Industry address by Vision System Design magazine for the past 4 years (over 1000 attendees). Peter's other accomplishments include a 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in Sports Broadcasting (High-Speed Video), various patents, peer-reviewed publications, and professional awards.
Peter has been President of Xcitex since 1999. He is a member of the Dean's Committee at the University of Rochester Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and he is an invited lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Rochester, and Colorado School of Mines. Peter holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Optics from the University of Rochester, where he was awarded the Hughes Fellowship.
W. Jesse Hong, Ph.D.
VP of Engineering
Dr. Jesse Hong is currently the Vice President of Engineering at Xcitex Inc. He conducts research and handles new product development in the areas of motion analysis, motion capture, image processing, and control system design. Dr. Hong is the primary author and architect of Xcitex’s award-winning ProAnalyst and StrikeForce motion analysis software and the recently released ProCapture motion capture systems.
Dr. Hong has been with Xcitex since 2001. His prior experience includes work at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory developing intelligent control, processing, and computer vision technologies. While at MIT, he developed control systems to visually track and catch thrown objects using a robot arm. Dr. Hong has also consulted for Walt Disney Imagineering and iRobot Corporation.
Dr. Hong is a Starr Foundation Fellow and worked as a visiting researcher at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. He completed his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his B.S. degree at the University of California, Berkeley.
Director of Operations
Leah's responsibilities at Xcitex include financial activities, operations, and marketing. Leah manages the worldwide dealer channel and designs and implements marketing materials including promotional materials, advertising copy, tradeshow booth design and presentations, workshops, and training classes. Another key area of responsibility is product planning and product marketing for software and hardware products, export compliance, process, and protocol.
Leah has been with Xcitex since 2006 and has 20 years of experience and expertise providing leadership and problem-solving for start-ups, early-growth, and Fortune 500 companies across many business sectors: software, banking, high-tech manufacturing, and defense contracting. She holds degrees from the University of Texas and Northeastern University.
